The Near Southwest Preparedness Alliance (NSPA) and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) held their first Summit in Roanoke on November 1. Over 100 participants from local emergency management, law enforcement, healthcare, hospitals, public health, state agencies, and emergency medical services attended. Presentations included an overview of the VDH Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Hospital Preparedness Program by the Director of the Office of Emergency Preparedness, a Town Hall by the Virginia Department of Emergency Management Director of the Western Division, an Overview of the long-term mutual aid plan by the State Hospital Coordinator, and VDEM, NSPA and VDH regional updates.
