BDLS Courses 2019

The Near Southwest Preparedness Alliance Training Center has had a very busy week of training! We delivered three separate Basic Disaster Life Support (BDLS) courses, which were held in Christiansburg, Martinsville and Lynchburg, respectively. In all, we provided this training to a total of 61 participants across the region! BDLS® is targeted to multiple disciplines including: emergency medical service (EMS) personnel, hazardous materials personnel, public safety and public health personnel, and health care providers. By teaching multiple disciplines simultaneously, a commonality of approach and language is able to develop. This improves the care and coordination of response to mass casualty incidents and public health emergencies. If you’d like to know more about BDLS or any other courses offered by our training center, please don’t hesitate to let us know.

We’d like to thank our host agencies for partnering with us to provide this important disaster preparedness curriculum to our coalition members around the region. The training was very well-received, with many participants inquiring about future classes for their colleagues who would benefit greatly from attending. We look forward to continuing to coordinate and deliver quality training to our member organizations and regional stakeholders in the weeks and months ahead.
