Plan Updates

The current Virginia Long-Term Care Mutual Aid Plan Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is set to expire on December 31, 2022. The MOU states that a renewal must be signed to continue participation in the VA LTC MAP . The current plan is being extended for an additional 5 year term, and we are asking that facilities sign an up-to-date addendum to the plan. Your organization should have received an email from the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association (VHHA) with the extension. If you did not receive that email and would like to sign the extension please click the button below to download your copy.

Everyone who signs the extension must be an existing signed member of the plan. If you have any questions about if your organization is a participating partner in this plan please review the list below or email Mary Kathryn Alley. If your organization has not participated in this plan and you are interested in doing so please review all of the plan documents below. Once complete you will need to sign the 2018 MOU as well as the 2022 extension.

Plan Overview

In 2015 Russell Phillips & Associates surveyed every Long Term Care Facility in the Commonwealth. The idea, determine what the needs for surge and evacuation are within the Long Term Care communities. From this stemmed the Virginia Long Term Care Mutual Aid Plan (LTC MAP). This plan assists LTC Facilities with emergency evacuation and surge events. The plan outlines a comprehensive course of action and an agreed commitment among long-term care facilities to assist each other as needed during disasters and emergency events, particularly those that require evacuation.

The plan's memorandum of understanding (mou) serves as a voluntary agreement among participating facilities to share supplies, resources, and even accept evacuating residents from other facilities when a serious need arises. It also allows for a continuum of coordination between a variety of emergency support agencies including Hospitals, Local Emergency Management, Public Health as well as other Regional and State support if needed. An addendum for a 5 year extension is now available to be signed by plan members.
