Western Virginia EMS Council Welcomes New Director

In March, Western Virginia Emergency Medical Services (WVEMS) welcomed Steve Simon as the NEW Executive Director.

Steve started in Fire-EMS in 1986 as a volunteer in Prince William County and just recently retired as the Chief of Fire-Rescue of Roanoke County. After a 35-year career with the last 27 being with Roanoke County and rising through the ranks to the Cheif's position for six years. Steve has a long history of serving on various Regional, State, and Federal committees, speaking on various EMS, Fire, Emergency Management topics with an emphasis on revenue recovery, HIPPA, FLSA, and personnel management.  Steve has also represented Roanoke County for 17 years on the WVEMS Council's Board of Directors, including serving as President for the last 4 years. Steve lives with his wife, two children, and three wonderful Dogs in Roanoke. His wife Jeannine, is in the medical field as an educator at Carilion/Virginia Tech. His son Kobey is currently attending Virginia Tech and his daughter Grace is a Junior in High School.
