
Member Spotlight: Trevor Shannon
Meet Trevor Shannon! He is the Battalion Chief of Emergency Management and Community Preparedness for the City of Roanoke Fire-EMS Department. He has been employed with the city for 15 years beginning his career as a firefighter/EMT in 2004, most recently serving as a station captain prior to his assignment in emergency management. Since 2014, Trevor worked closely with Marci Stone, the previous emergency management coordinator, as a deputy emergency coordinator. Trevor is also a member of the Roanoke Valley Regional Swift water and Technical rescue teams.
"The goal of Emergency Management is to aid the community in mitigating, preparing for, responding to, recovering from natural and man-made emergencies and disasters that could affect the citizens, businesses and visitors of the City of Roanoke."
Emergency Management works with local, state and federal government partners, as well as non-governmental organizations to achieve this goal. Emergency Management maintains the city’s Emergency Operations Center, is an active partner with the Roanoke Valley Local Emergency Planning Committee and participates in regular exercises to test and continuously revise the city’s Emergency Operations Plan to ensure a state of constant readiness.
Trevor is a graduate of Roanoke College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a concentration in Healthcare Administration. Most recently, he graduated from American Military University with his Masters of Arts degree in Emergency and Disaster Management.
Trevor lives in Salem with his wife, Jenn and two young boys, Tyler age 10 and Jacob, 6. Let's give Trevor a warm NSPA welcome!
